MacuShield is the UK’s leading eye health supplement brand. MacuShield Gold is their most advanced formula, with additional vitamins and minerals to support eye health. MacuShield Gold contains zinc to help maintain normal vision, as well as copper, vitamin C, and vitamin E, which contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

Developed in collaboration with leading eye experts, MacuShield Gold contains all three macular carotenoids: Lutein, Zeaxanthin, and Meso-zeaxanthin. MacuShield Gold also contains zinc, which contributes to the maintenance of normal vision.

Our bodies can’t make macular carotenoids, so we need to consume them in our diet. The macular carotenoids used within MacuShield are obtained from Marigolds (Tagetes Erecta), the flowers are specifically used.

MacuShield Gold is an eye care supplement from the original Macushield product (with its patented, synergistic formulation of meso-zeaxanthin, lutein, and zeaxanthin), coupled with capsules containing zinc and other vitamins suggested by AREDS2.
Macular pigments (lutein, zeaxanthin & meso-zeaxanthin) are believed to provide the eyes with ultra-violet (UV) protection, which may reduce symptoms of glare.

Lutein - A naturally occurring carotenoid obtained through diet, which collects at the macula at the back of the eye. Lutein is commonly found in dark green leafy veg, such as Spinach, Broccoli, Kale or Peas.

Zeaxanthin - A naturally occurring carotenoid obtained entirely through diet, which collects at the macular at the back of the eye. Zeaxanthin is commonly found in brightly coloured fruit and veg, such as Sweet Peppers, Sweet Corn and Egg Yolks.

Meso-Zeaxanthin - The most central carotenoid found at the centre of the macular. Meso-zeaxanthin is less commonly found in foods, currently you can only find it in some types of fish and is usually made in the body from Lutein
